Aerial Lifts (MEWP)
This 12-hour class covers the safe operation of boom lifts and scissor lifts and the safety precautions that must be observed during operation. Topics include vehicle stability and limitations; personal fall arrest systems; overhead and other hazards; and equipment inspections. Hands-on activities will include operation of various aeiral lifts.
MEWP: Mobile Elevating Work Platform boom, sissicor, and other Aerial lifts.

Asbestos Refresher
Acetylene Torch Cutting
This 16-hour class covers methods of cutting with an oxy-acetylene torch and the safety precautions and practices that must be taken. Topics include properties of flammable gases; using oxygen safely; fire extinguishers and their use; oxy-acetylene torch system components; setting up the system for cutting; operating an oxy-acetylene torch safely and effectively; storing the system; and additional types of fuel.
*Personal Protective Equipment Required.
Asbestos Abatement Worker
This 40-hour course provides the initial EPA required training for abatement workers and covers the following topics: hazards and health effects of asbestos; medical monitoring and surveillance; legal rights of workers; PPE; specific procedures used on the job; site safety; engineering controls; negative air systems; decontamination; air monitoring; and OSHA standards that govern the work. Course work will include both classroom and hands-on activities.

Concrete Patch and Repair
Introduction to Concrete
This 40-hour course introduces members to concrete work and covers the following topics; safety and health hazards of concrete work; site preparation; form building and setting; forming systems; estimating concrete quantities; placement and consolidation; and finishing and curing concrete. Participants will gain knowledge and practical experience in the placement and finishing of concrete.

Construction Math
This 40-hour class provides a foundation for all of the math used in construction through classroom and hands-on activities. Topics include basic math operations (ASMD); working with fractions and decimals; layout and squaring; area and volume calculations and formulae; slope ratios and percent of slope; offsets and stations; and differential leveling.

Electrical Safety
Fall Protection
This 4-hour class covers OSHA’s Fall Protection standard, fall hazards and safety issues on the job, PPE, OSHA regulations and requirements for protecting workers from falls. PPE is required.

First Aid/ CPR/ AED
This 8-hour certification class helps non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis.The first part of the class covers best practices for first aid for a wide range of medical conditions. The CPR portion of the class provides methods and practice for treating both adults and children during a cardiac emergency. AED: Automated External Defibrillator.

Foreman Training
Forklift Safety
This 16-hour course covers the hazards and safe operation of rough terrain forklifts (also known as telehandlers). Topics include types of forklifts and terminology; identifying and avoiding hazards; inspection and maintenance; reviewing job site conditions; and safe operating practices. Hands-on activities will include operating rough terrain forklifts of various sizes under simulated job site conditions.

General Construction Part 1
This 40-hour class is for those new to construction and covers basic information on the trade, the tools we use, and safety. Topics include First Aid/CPR; confined space awareness; fall protection; material identification and handling; selection and use of hand and power tools; reducing silica exposure; and pneumatic tool use and safety. Hands-on activities will be included.

General Construction Part 2
This 40-hour class covers common hazards in construction, tools of the trade, and successful habits for apprentices. Topics covered include heat stress; small engines; soil compaction; powder actuated tools; chain saw safety and maintenance; scaffold user safety; and financial tools. Hands-on activities will be included.

General Construction Part 3
This 40-hour class covers common hazards in construction and tools of the trade. Topics include lead action level; back injury prevention; basic construction math; hearing protection; NDOT Flagger; aerial lifts; and hazard communication/GHS. Hands-on activities will be included.

MSHA
This 24-hour class for new miners covers operations at Part 46 mining facilities and fulfills the MSHA training requirements to work for contractors at these facilities. Topics include hazard recognition; electrical and mechanical hazards; silica and airborne hazards; and workplace rights. Note: this training is not a substitute for site-specific training that your employer is required to give you.

MSHA Refresher
This 8-hour class is for those members who have taken an MSHA new miner training within the last twelve months. It fulfills the annual refresher training requirement of MSHA. Topics include hazard recognition; electrical and mechanical hazards; silica and airborne hazards; and workplace rights. You must have a current MSHA certification to take this class.

Permit Required Confined Space
This 16-hour class covers the hazards associated with working in confined spaces and safety precautions that must be taken during this work. Topics include characteristics of a confined space; hazardous atmospheres; air monitoring; PPE; ventilation; isolation of hazards; a discussion on confined space rescues; and OSHA regulations. Hands-on activities include preparing for and entering a mock confined space.

Pipelaying 1
Polyethylene Pipe Fusion
Polyethylene Pipe Fusion course is designed for workers who want to learn more about the fusing together of polyethylene (PE) pipes. Participants will learn about the fusing machine, the fusing process, and safety precautions, as well as demonstrate proper procedures for fusing PE pipe. Special emphasis is placed on developing safe work habits.

Reducing Silica Exposure
This 8-hour class is designed to make members aware of the hazards of silica exposure and methods to protect themselves. Topics covered include silica history and properties; health effects of silica exposure; silica regulations and guidance; and silica determination and work practice controls.

Rigging and Signaling
This 40-hour course covers safety and the procedures for working safely around cranes. Topics covered include types of cranes; common causes of accidents; safe work practices; math for rigging; rigging hardware and slings; and crane signaling. During hands-on activities, participants will calculate the weights of loads; choose proper rigging hardware and rig the load properly; and signal the crane operator to pick and move the load.

Scaffold Builder
This 40-hour class discusses the most common types of scaffold used in construction, reasons why scaffolds fail, calculating load capacities, scaffold performance, OSHA Regulations, and tools and PPE used to build scaffold. Hands-on activities will include building frame, tube and clamp, and system scaffold. Additional types of scaffold may be included as dictated by industry needs.

Scaffold User Safety
This 8-hour course introduces participants to common types of scaffold in the construction industry, reasons why they may fail, calculating load capacities, and how load may effect a scaffold’s performance. Relevant OSHA regulations will also be reviewed.

Skid Steer Operation and Safety
This 16-hour course covers the hazards and safe operation of skid steer loaders (i.e. Bobcat). Topics include terminology; identifying and avoiding hazards; inspection and maintenance; reviewing job site conditions; and safe operating practices. Hands-on activities will include pre-operational inspections, review of the Owner’s Manual, and operating skid steers with forks under simulated job site conditions related to solar work.

This 8-hour class covers OSHA standards for trenches and excavations. Topics include hazards of working in trenches; soil types; methods of protection; types of protective systems; and trench cave-ins.

Traffic Control Supervisor
Transite Pipe Hazard Awareness
This 8-hour course covers the hazards related to working around asbestos-containing transite pipe.
Topics covered include transite pipe use and identification; health effects of asbestos; EPA and OSHA regulations related to medical monitoring and surveillance; worker rights and protections; PPE; EPA classifications of asbestos work; and site safety. This course does not cover procedures related to the abatement of asbestos-containing material (See Asbestos Worker course description).
